Strong Ofsted Outcome

Yate Academy Celebrates Strong Ofsted Outcome in Latest Report

We are delighted to share that following our full graded inspection in May 2026, Ofsted recognised strong practice in Achievement, Curriculum and Teaching, Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, and Personal Development and Wellbeing. Attendance and Behaviour and Post-16 Provision met the Expected Standard, and our safeguarding arrangements were found to be effective.

This report reflects the significant progress we have made as a school community and most importantly, it highlights what we experience every day: a school where pupils feel safe, valued and supported to succeed.

Inclusion at the Heart of What We Do

Inclusion is central to our work at Yate Academy, and we are proud this was recognised as a key strength in the inspection. We have high expectations for every pupil, regardless of background or circumstance, and we work hard to ensure all students are supported to overcome barriers to learning and personal development.

We are particularly proud that our specialist provision for pupils with hearing impairments was recognised for enabling students to thrive alongside their peers. The support we provide for children in care and pupils with social and emotional needs was also highlighted positively.

Ambitious Teaching and Learning

Inspectors highlighted the strength of our teachers’ subject knowledge, the precision of their explanations, and the effectiveness of our assessment practices. We are committed to ensuring learning is carefully adapted to meet the needs of every pupil, and our ongoing professional development ensures teaching continues to improve across the school.

Strong Achievement Across Our School

Inspectors found our pupils achieve very well throughout their time with us at Yate Academy. Outcomes at Key Stage 4 are particularly strong, and we are especially pleased that disadvantaged pupils achieve highly. Across Key Stage 3, our pupils build deep, secure knowledge across the curriculum, and when students join us with gaps in their learning, we provide effective support to help them make strong progress.

As a result, we know our pupils are well prepared for their next steps in education, training and employment.

Personal Development Beyond the Classroom

Through our personal development programme, we support pupils to learn how to stay safe, build positive relationships, and understand the importance of diversity, fairness and respect.

We are also proud of the way our pupils engage thoughtfully in discussions around social and moral issues. Alongside this, our enrichment offer - including clubs, trips and wider extracurricular activities - helps broaden experiences and build confidence.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

As a leadership team, we have a clear understanding of our strengths and areas for development, and we act decisively to continue improving outcomes for pupils. This culture of improvement is shared across all staff, who contribute to and benefit from high-quality professional development and support.

Headteacher Edward Rakshi said:

“This report is a true reflection of the dedication, expertise and commitment shown by our staff every single day, and of the ambition and determination of our pupils. I am also deeply grateful to our wider school community, whose support plays such an important role in everything we do. At Yate Academy, we remain committed to ensuring every young person can thrive both personally and academically, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”
