key stage 4 options
Key Stage 4 is an exciting opportunity to choose those subjects that you will study for the next two years and possibly beyond. Deciding what you want for yourself at the end of Key Stage 4 is an important decision and one which you should not consider taking alone.
What will I study?
Core Subjects
All students will study the following exam subjects as part of the core offer in Key Stage 4:

GCSE Maths

GCSE English Literature
-
GCSE English Language
-
GCSE Combined Science (2 GCSEs)
Students will also study PSHE, Philosophy & Ethics and Core PE, however these subjects will not be examined at the end of year 11.
Option Subjects
All students will study 4 option subjects to complement their core subjects. Students are placed onto an options pathway by the school and this will guide the subjects they can choose. Please see details of the 2 pathways below:

Students on the EBacc Pathway must choose at least one of Geography or History alongside a Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish). Students can only choose a language they have previously studied. Students are able to study both Geography & History if they wish.
Students on the Academic Pathway must choose at least one of Geography or History alongside either BTEC Sport Studies or BTEC Health & Social Care.
Students on both pathways will select four subjects in total alongside a reserve choice.
We feel that both these pathways will give students a broad set of qualifications which will set them up for excellent outcomes alongside a wide set of potential choices at Key Stage 5.
