List of Bristol schools that send most pupils to Oxford and Cambridge

Some schools across the Bristol area have a high success rate of their pupils gaining a place at the prestigious universities.

Oxford and Cambridge are two of the most prestigious universities in the world. Competition to study there is unsurprisingly high, but research shows that pupils at some schools across the Bristol area have a higher chance of gaining a space than others.

Yate Academy in South Gloucestershire has the best record for sending students to Oxford or Cambridge University of any state-run school or college in our region. A total of two of the school’s pupils progressed to one of the country’s top two universities after leaving at the end of the 2019/20 academic year, according to newly released data from the Department for Education.

That works out at just over one in 12 pupils (8.7%), which is a larger percentage than at any other state-funded secondary school or college in our region. Bristol Free School has the next best record with 4.8% of pupils (three in total) going to Oxbridge.
